Kashima (Ibaraki)
Kashima (Japanese鹿 嶋 市, - shi) is a city in Japan in Ibaraki Prefecture, about 100 kilometers from Tokyo.
Geography
The city is located east of Tokyo on the Pacific Ocean south of Mito.
Attractions
A special attraction is the Kashima - jingū, a Shinto shrine.
Sports
Kashima is home of the football team Kashima Antlers in the J. League, Japan's top tier ( there are the Antlers record champion ) and has hosted several matches in the Football World Cup 2002 ( among others, Germany - Ireland, result 1:1).
