Kashtiliash IV

Kaštiliaš IV ( Kaschtiliasch ) was from 1232 to 1225 BC, king of Babylonia, and the last ruler of the first Kassite dynasty. He was probably still a minor when his father and predecessor Šagarakti - šuriaš died. From his reign are two royal inscriptions, land grants, approximately 170 business texts, including handed down from major Kurigalzu and Ur and four consecration texts.

Tukulti -Ninurta I of Ashur invaded Babylon, which was economically weakened, the king captured in open battle and put him in chains in the Ashur temple. The campaign against and the eventual victory Tukulti - Ninurta about the king of the Kassites is described in the so-called Tukulti -Ninurta epic.

Tukulti -Ninurta put the Assyrians Enlil -nadin- šumi one as governor of Babylon, but soon rebelled. Tukulti -Ninurta then destroyed the walls of Babylon and sacked the temples of Esagila, the Marduk statue was brought to Assyria. Tukulti -Ninurta was called after this victory " king of the four quarters of the world ," King of Sumer and Akkad, and King of Karduniaš, that of Babylonia. The following Assyrian governors are guided in the Babylonian sources under Kassite name.

To 1216 BC along Adad - šuma - usur, a son of Kaštiliaš IV, to the throne of Babylon, he was able to hold BC to 1187. He probably had it the support of Kidin - Hutran of Elam.
