Kasikorn Bank

The Kasikorn Bank ( Thai: ธนาคาร กสิกร ไทย, RTGS: Thanakan Kasikon Thai; translated "Thai Farmer Bank") is a Thai bank with its headquarters in Bangkok.

History

The Kasikorn Bank was founded on June 8, 1945 Lamsam Choti under the name Thai Farmers Bank, with 21 employees. The initial capital was 5 million baht.

On 31 December 1945, the Bank was able to record a total assets of 15 million baht and deposit in the amount of 12 million baht. Since its founding in 1945, the Bank has enjoyed steady growth.

Acquisition of the Thai Farmers Bank

In the wake of the Asian crisis, the Thai Farmers Bank was taken over and as Kasikorn Bank restructured.

2012 financial year

On 12 June 2012, the registered capital amounted to 30 486 million baht, the Bank operates 824 branches throughout Thailand of which 288 are located in the metropolitan Bangkok, further Kasikorn has eight offices abroad including in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, in Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming and Tokyo. The number of employees was increased to 16 881. These are 301 employees more than the annual financial statements at 31 December 2011.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board is Mr. Banyong Lamsam, CEO and President of the Bank is Mr. Banthoon Lamsam.

Shareholder

On April 12, 2012 was the number of shares of Kasikorn Bank 2.393.260.193 pieces, of which 1.221.041.351 or 51.02 % in Thai hand and 1.172.218.842 or 48.98 % for foreign investors.
