Kaspar Glatz

Kaspar Glatz (also Casparus Glatius, Glacius, * vineyards in the Forggensee, † September 15, 1551 on the Siedelhof at Naschhausen ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

From the early days of Glatz is not known. On August 11, 1523, he came to the University of Wittenberg, where he attained a doctorate to 1524 already licentiate and doctorate in theology. It seems he also lectured and took over on August 27, 1524 as the successor of Andreas Bodenstein the parish in Orlamünde that was associated with the Archdeacon of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.

Martin Luther, was the keen to find a husband for the escaped nun Katharina von Bora, hit her bald before. Bora refused and was subsequently Luther's wife. Glatz had in Orlamünde no easy job, since Bodenstein had excited the minds there largely. He was then released from his office there in 1536, a position he received again in 1539. After the Augsburg Interim was drawn, Glatz occurred on the side of Nicholas of Amsdorf and Justus Menius minded as representatives of the Lutheran and expressed his concerns about this.
