The plateau around the tip extends to parts of the districts of the cities Großalmerode and hessian Lichtenau well as the communities Berkatal and Meissner. The Kassel summit is part of the Meissner - high plateau, which is a maximum of about 4.2 km long and 2.2 km wide - measured from the 700 -m contour line up. It is not, as reproduced in many publications, the highest peak in North Hessen, but "only" the highest mountain in North Osthessens. The highest mountains in North Hessen located in Upland.

Kassel hut

About 550 m southwest from the highest point of the Kassel tip standing near a forest road crossing ( 748.3 m above sea level. NN ) which was built of wood with a tiled roof shelter Kassel Hut ( ⊙ 51.2258055555569.85625750 ) at 750 m above sea level. NN.

View options and Hiking

From the Kassel knoll not a good view is possible, because the forest obscured the view. But there are interesting viewpoints on the Hoher Meissner, for example, at the 1.5 km south-southeast of lying on the east side of the mountain calving. Through the forest landscape of hilltop and plateau are numerous footpaths.
