Kastamonu Vilayet
The Vilayet Kastamonu ( Turkish Kastamonu Vilayeti ) was a vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. It had an area of 50,686 km ², the capital was Kastamonu.
History
Until the 19th century Kastamonu was a sanjak of eyalet Anatolia and was renamed in 1846 Eyalet and by the vilayet Nizamnâmesi in 1867 in a vilayet.
Sandschaks
The sanjak of the vilayet Kastamonu were:
- Kastamonu Sancağı
- Bolu Sancağı
- Kangırı ( Kengırı ) Sancağı
- Sinop Sancağı'dır.
Population
In the year 1914 737.302 inhabitants were Muslims, 20,958 were still Ponto Greeks and only 8,959 were Armenians.
