History

Kastl was first mentioned in 1233 and belonged to Rentamt Burghausen and the district court Neuoetting of the Electorate of Bavaria. It was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community. On January 1, 1966, the old municipalities upper, lower and forestry Kastl were merged to church today Kastl. In addition to the agricultural character Kastl is also a residential community today. In the village is a Catholic kindergarten and a primary school. Other attractions include the old Gothic parish church of St. Kastulus ( from Martyrs Castulus the place got its name ) from the year 1504. It applies after the renovation in 2004 as one of the most beautiful village churches in the area. At the village square there is a beautiful bay. Country inn with private butcher. In the municipality there are still two old brickworks, which are not operated for several years. Beautiful old farms - often lovingly renovated - are as much surface area this community.

On 1 January 1978, the municipality border areas ceded to neighboring communities Altötting castle and churches in the Alz.

Coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms is " a powered wandered red top, in three 1 to 2 Asked golden bricks, split from gold and silver front a blue spade blade, behind a green shamrock. " This coat of arms refers to the two pillars of the community: agriculture and the more long common clay mining with the brick kilns in place.

Culture and sights

  • The parish church of the Assumption, formerly the St. Kastulus, originally late Gothic, took its present form in the Baroque period.
