Katarina Church

The Katarina kyrka ( Katarinakirche ) is located on the island of Södermalm in Stockholm, Sweden.

History

The church was built in 1656-1695 by the architect Jean de la Vallée.

1723, the church was in a great fire, which almost the entire Katarinaviertel fell victim destroyed. It was headed by the city architect Göran josuae Adelcrantz ( father of the more famous Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz ) rebuilt. In 1990 the church burned again. Nearly the entire inventory was destroyed. After the reconstruction, which cost about 280 million crowns, the church was consecrated in 1995.

At the cemetery, the church, the Swedish politician Anna Lindh is buried.

Equipment

The first organ was installed in 1751 in the Church of the organ builders Jonas Gren and Petter jets. This instrument, which showed marked French influences, was reorganized in 1863 by the organ builder Per Larsson Akerman, and re- erected in 1909 by the organ builder Akerman & Lund and expanded. 1938, the instrument was equipped with pneumatic actions. The instrument was destroyed in a fire in 1990.

The present organ was built in 2000 by organ builder van den Heuvel. The housing was designed according to the plans of the original housing from 1751. The organ itself was scheduled in the French style, based on instruments of Aristide Cavaillé -Coll. The organ has 61 registers on three manuals and pedal. The Spieltrakturen are mechanical, the Registertrakturen are electric.
