Katayama Cabinet

The Cabinet Katayama (片 山 内阁jap, Katayama naikaku ) ruled Japan from 24 May 1947 to 10 March 1948., The Socialist Party of Japan ( SPJ ) in 1947 emerged from the Shūgiin - election on April 25, as the strongest party. On May 22, its chairman Tetsu Katayama was elected Prime Minister. At the start of the cabinet consisted of six ministers of the SPJ, seven ministers of the Democratic Party, two ministers of the Kokumin - Kyodo -tō ( "People's Co- Party") and a member of the Group Ryokufūkai. It was the first Japanese Cabinet under the Constitution of 1947.

After conflicts with the party left Katayama resigned in February 1948. His deputy Ashida Hitoshi was elected by Shūgiin on 21 February 1948 to the Prime Minister. The Cabinet remained until 10 March -executive in office.

Until June 1, 1947 Prime Minister Katayama was provisionally also exterior, interior, finance, justice, education, health and social, agricultural, trade and industry, transport, communications minister and head of Price Administration.
