Kate Allen (triathlete)

Katherine Jessie Jean Allen ( born April 25, 1970 in Geelong, Australia ) is a former starting for Austria triathlete. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, she was Olympic champion.

Life

Allen was originally an Australian citizen and as a child she regularly participated in running events. She won several junior champion title and was considered one of the most promising talents in Australia. At the age of ten years, Allen's interests shifted and she began with the addition of gymnastics.

Later, however, they neglected their sporting careers to complete a training course to graduate nurse. With the sport of triathlon began in 1995 when she triathletes Marcel Diechtler met during a vacation trip through Europe in Kitzbühel. Kate Allen played in the summer of 1996 her first triathlon in Kirchbichl and was there right away fourth.

2004 Kate Allen was named after her victory at the Summer Olympic Games in Athens to Austria's Sportswoman of the Year and received the Golden Badge of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria. In 2008, she started again at the Olympic Games in Beijing, reaching 14th place.

Kate Allen had announced the end of their athletic career at the season end of 2009 and the start of the World Championship race in Hamburg 25 July 2009 should be her last.

She now lives in Innsbruck, is married to Diechtler and in March 2011 their son Finley was born.
