Kate Rusby

Kate Rusby (born 4 December 1973) is an English folk singer who lives in the District of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England.

Biography

Kate Rusby grew up in Barnsley. As a child she performed at folk festivals. Prior to her time as a solo artist, she was the lead singer of the group The Poozies, was a member of the group Equation and, in 1995, together with the derived also from Barnsley Kathryn Roberts Album Kate Rusby & Kathryn Roberts. Since 1998, Rusby has released eleven solo albums. In observance outside the folk scene, she came with her duet with Irish singer Ronan Keating All Over Again, a top ten hit in the UK. Kate Rusby has won four BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards: 2000 Folk Singer of the Year and for Best Album in 2002 for Best Original Song and Best Live Act 2006.

Against all advice, she founded the record label Pure Records, based in Yorkshire. A successful pure family business that takes over recordings, marketing, advertising media sales and concert organization. This provides her the necessary space creative processes to organize without pressure.
