Katharinenheerd

Katharinenheerd (Danish: Katrin hearth ) is a town on the peninsula eiderstedt in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

The Katharinenheerd railway station is on the railway line Husum - Bad St. Peter- Ording. Katharinenheerd lies about 10 km west of Tonning on the highway 202

History

The Church of St. Catherine was first mentioned in 1113. Near them the Dingstätte Hamygenhoren was ( Hemminghörn ), where the oldesten and klogesten Lüde ( oldest and wisest people ) gathered the three landing in 1426 to decide on the crown of the right truth. Municipal council

In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the voters Community CHP reached 71.7 % of the vote and six seats occupied. A single candidate received 17.3%, reaching a mandate. The turnout was 76.1 percent.

Mayor

For the election period 2013-2018 Dieter Heisterkamp ( CHP) was elected mayor. He succeeds by Jürgen Sallach who continue to be part of the new community council as individuals.

Economy

Today, tourism and agriculture are the main sources of revenue for the town. However, there are retail shops and service providers in the community.
