Katherine Copeland

Sarah Katherine " Kat" Copeland, MBE ( born December 1, 1990 in Ashington, Northumberland ) is a British rower and Olympic champion in 2012 in the lightweight double sculls.

Copeland finished 2009 in fourth place in the lightweight single sculls at the U-23 World Championships; In 2010 she took along with Charlotte Burgess sixth place in the lightweight double sculls. In 2011 she won the lightweight One of the U-23 World Championships and finished second in the adult class in fifth place at the World Rowing Championships 2011. 2012 she reached together with Sophie Hosking second place at the World Cup in Belgrade and was in the other two World Cup races Fifth and fourth. In the Olympic final in front of a home crowd, the two winning ahead of the boats from China and Greece.

At the end of 2012 Katherine Copeland was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire.
