Kathleen Norris

Kathleen Thompson Norris (* July 16 1880 in San Francisco, California, † January 18, 1966 in Palo Alto, California ) was an American writer.

Life

Kathleen Thompson studied at the University of California, Berkeley, and was then a journalist for several newspapers in California. During this time she began writing short stories, which she was able to publish in several magazines. She learned the Chicago journalist Charles Gilman Norris, the younger brother of the American writer Frank Norris, whom she married in 1909. She moved with him in 1928 in search of a suitable place to educate the children, to Palo Alto, where she lived until her death.

In 1911, five years before her husband, Norris made ​​his debut as a writer with Mother. Until 1935, she wrote over 50 books, 17 of which were filmed. With her feminist commitment and successful books, which are often played in the upper-class in California, she made it on 28 January with the headline A Woman of Certain Importance (Eng. " A woman of some importance " ) on the title cover of the Time magazine.
