Kathleen Van Brempt

Kathleen Van Brempt ( born November 18, 1969 in Wilrijk ) is a Belgian politician ( sp.a ).

Van Brempt studied sociology at the Catholic University in Leuven. She was a research assistant and later political secretary of Sp.A. In 2000, she moved in after the European Parliament for Peter Bossu. Also since 2000, she is a member of the Antwerp city council. In 2003 she became Secretary of State for Work organization and work health. Then she was 2004-2009 Flemish transport minister in the cabinets Leterme I and Peeters I. In 2009 she moved back to the European Parliament.

Van Brempt is married since 1993 and 2007 brought their first child into the world.

Van Brempt is in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament.

As it is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Delegation for relations with Iran. As an alternate member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia.
