Kathmandu District

The district Kathmandu is one of the 75 districts in Nepal and has 1,744,240 inhabitants ( 2011) and an area of 395 km ². Administrative center is the city of the same name Kathmandu. The district Kathmandu is the most densely populated area of Nepal.

Geography

The district Kathmandu is one of three counties situated in the Kathmandu Valley. He is located in the hills of the Bagmati Zone. The height of the terrain of the Kathmandudistriktes varies between 1262 m and 2732 m above sea level. The district is surrounded by the Bhaktapur district and the Kabhrepalanchok in the east, Dhading and Nuwakot in the west, to the north by Sindhupalchok and in the south of Lalitpur and Makwanpur.

Economy

Most of the offices and industrial establishments of Nepal located in the Kathmandudistrikt. Important economic centers are Durbar Marg and Putalisadak. In addition to the manufacture and export of handicrafts, artworks, garments, pashmina and paper, tourism is one of the most important industries of the region.
