Katholieke Universiteit Leuven

The KU Leuven ( KU Leuven German ) (until 2011 Katholieke Universiteit Leuven ) is a Dutch-speaking university with headquarters in Leuven (Dutch Leuven) in the Belgian region of Flanders. In its present form it was due to the cleavage of the Louvain University in a Dutch and a French-speaking university in 1968 as part of the Flemish and Francophone conflict. The German translation of the old name was ambiguous because it was true of the French-speaking Université catholique de Louvain in Louvain- la -Neuve.
