Katowice International Fair

The Katowicer Fair (Polish: Międzynarodowe Targi Katowickie (MTK )) is the second largest exhibition in Poland. It is located in the city of Chorzów right on the outskirts of Katowice.

The Katowicer Exhibition Centre comprises a large exhibition center and numerous exhibition halls, where every year dozens of trade shows. Also, here Headquarters are housed. The show is not in the city of Katowice, but already belongs to the neighboring city of Chorzów. The fairground was a few hundred meters to the west created by the city border of Katowice, but has a Katowicer Address: ul Bytkowska 2b. In the Upper Silesian industrial district, the cities have partially almost seamlessly into each other, accordingly begins on the other side of the street of the district Katowicer Wełnowiec (formerly Hohenlohe hut).

In fact, the fair is just 3.5 kilometers northwest of the city center of Katowice, in the so-called culture and recreation park of the Silesian Voivodeship ( Wojewódzki Park Kultury i Wypoczynku ), which is the largest park in Poland. The show benefited from the large open area on the park grounds and especially the large market in the metropolitan area around Katowice with about 3.5 million inhabitants.

On 28 January 2006 the roof of the largest hall of the fairgrounds collapsed and called according to official figures 65 deaths, about 170 people were injured.
