Katrin Borchert

Katrin Borchert (born 4 November 1969 Waren (Müritz) ) is a former canoeist who went to Germany and Australia at international championships at the start.

Katrin Borchert, who coached at SC Neubrandenburg, was already at the Summer Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 a member of the East German team, but was not used in the competitions. A year later she was three times win gold at the World Championships in the absence of Birgit Schmidt. In 1990 she moved before the German reunification for KG food and went to the World Championships for the Federal Republic and won a gold and a bronze medal. The following year, she could be twice world champion in one kayak and in quad kayak.

After several disputes with Birgit Schmidt and lost against Olympic qualification in one and two she could at the Olympic Games of Barcelona in 1992 only participate in four and won together with Birgit Schmidt, Anke von Seck and Ramona Portwich the silver medal.

When she was not nominated for the 1993 World Championships, she stepped back and moved a year later to Australia. There she began again with canoe racing and won at the Games in Atlanta 1996 bronze in the two and four years later in Sydney also bronze in One for Australia. In 2003, she tried meantime a return to Germany, but a World Cup finals failed at a late release issued by the Australian Canoe Federation.
