Katrin Zeller

Katrin Zeller ( * March 1, 1979 in Oberstdorf ) is a German cross country skier. The police champion of the federal police will start for the SC Oberstdorf.

Made her international début Zeller as part of a 5 - kilometer race (36th ) in the Continental Cup. By December 1999, she took, apart from the Junior World Championships 1999 in Saalfelden ( 16th Place about 5 and 15 miles), only to Continental Cup and FIS races in part. On December 28, 1999, she started for the first time in a World Cup sprint in Garmisch -Partenkirchen ( 46 ). It took more than four years until it was used in this competition series again in February 2004 and was in pursuit of Oberstdorf 54.

At least since the early 2000s, Zeller began to specialize in the sprints, but without completely to renounce distance races. At the national championships in 2006 in Fischen im Allgau she won behind Stefanie Böhler the silver medal in the pursuit, she finished fourth. With Manuela Henkel, Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle and Claudia Kuenzel they reached in November 2006 in Gällivare in the season as runner-up to her best ever result in a World Cup race. In Changchun she finished in ninth place in February 2007 for the first time a single-digit place in a single race of the World Cup.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo Zeller started in three races, best finish was a 25th place over 30 kilometers. The 2007/08 season began promisingly with an eighth place in the team sprint in Dusseldorf. She reached later in the season a good 9th place at the Tour de Ski and her first single podium finish with a 3rd place in the Classic race over 10 km in Lahti. On March 9, 2008, she won the Engadin Ski Marathon.

In 40 starts in the World Cup Zeller came so far (as of March 6, 2008 ) 6x rankings in the top ten. Twice she won the race for the Continental Cups.

On February 25, 2010 Zeller won at the Olympic Games in Vancouver, along with Evi Sachenbacher - Stehle, Miriam and Claudia Nystad Gössner in the relay silver.
