Katrineholm

Katrine Holm is a town in the Swedish province of Södermanland County and in the historical province of Södermanland. It is the capital of the municipality Katrine Holm and received city rights in 1917.

Originally the town was named Fulbonäs, however, the then owner of Jacob from the wrap to change the name in the 16th century. The community is now named after Duchess Catharina Gyllenhorn, which had its seat at Mr Näsnaren.

Katrine Holm is on the Västra stambanan between Stockholm and Gothenburg, which was completed in 1862. 1866 also, the section of the Södra stambanan (originally Östra stambanan ) by Katrine Holm to Norrköping was completed. The city is thus an important railway junction. Katrine Holm Then took a quick ascent. Carl Fredriksson opened a sawmill in 1876, August 1878 Kullberg opened a trading company and Gustaf Robert Grönkvist opened his forge in 1886. 1917, when the town rights, the place had 6615 inhabitants. Shortly thereafter, schools were founded, the Practical School and the Technical School.

Today, several imperial roads lead ( riksväg ) by Katrine Holm and cross there. The city also has a small airfield with a grass runway.

The city has several industrial areas, where among other things, SKF, Ericsson and some concrete component manufacturers are located. The Bus division of Scania closed its doors some time ago. Due to the good train connections to Stockholm, there are many daily commuters to the capital. To health care is a hospital.

Cities partnerships with Halver in Germany, Rzhev in Russia and Saint- Cyr- sur -Loire in France.
