Katsumi Yanagishima

Katsumi Yanagishima (Japanese柳 岛 克己Yanagishima Katsumi; born August 13, 1950 in Gifu, Japan) is a Japanese cameraman.

He graduated in 1971 his photography studies at the Tōkyō Daigaku Kogei. His first camera work in the film Sailor fuku to kikanjū the director Haruki Kadokawa from the year 1982. Having worked on Tōru Murakawas Mottomo abunai Keiji and Izo Hashimoto CF Girl, he began in 1990 with Takeshi Kitano cooperate and acted since at cameraman all Kitano's directorial work, except for Hana - Bi, in which it replaced Hideo Yamamoto. For Isao Yukisadas romantic drama Go Yanagishima won the 2002 Japanese Academy Award for Best Cinematography. In the same category he was nominated the following year for Kitano's Dolls. In 2004 he was with the same price for Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman excellent. With the latter film, he was also in the competition of the Polish Camera Film Festival CamerImage, but had to concede defeat Dick Pope, who was awarded for Vera Drake.
