Katsushika, Tokyo

Katsushika (Japanese葛 饰 区, -ku, the official spelling uses the Kyūjitai form of葛whose lower component corresponds to that of曷) is one of the 23 city wards of Tokyo, capital of Japan.

History

The municipality Katsushika Tokyo City was established on October 1, 1932 from the merger of seven small towns ( machi ) and villages ( Mura) in Katsushika -gun. On March 15, 1947, became a special district ( tokubetsu -ku ).

40 -member municipal parliament and mayor of Katsushika both were last elected in November 2013. As mayor, the incumbent since 2009 Katsunori Aoki was re-elected with LDP - DPJ Kōmeitō support against a CPY -based challenger.

Katsushika is four- mandate constituency for the parliamentary Prefecture Tokyo, in the last elections in June 2013, the Kōmeitō nominee Junko Nogami received the most votes, followed by the Liberal Democrats Tatehiko Izumi and Chikao Funasaka and the Communist Naomi Izumi.

For the lower house of the National Assembly of the district, together with a small part of the 17th electoral district Edogawa Tokyo, represented throughout by the Liberal Democrats Katsuei Hirasawa since the first election after the introduction of Einmandatswahlkreise 1996.
