Kaunerberg

Kaunerberg is a municipality with 413 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Landeck district in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is part of the judicial district of Landeck.

Geography

The municipality is located above the entrance to Kaunertal at numerous scattered hamlets and farms between 1300 m and 1600 m altitude. From here, a road over the Pillerhöhe further into the Pitztal.

The area is a traditional small-scale farmed landscape. Typical are whales, extensive irrigation systems for fruit trees. The southern slopes of the Kaunerbergs are among the areas with the lowest rainfall in the Tyrol. Not Farmed, some rocky slopes accommodate dry grasslands, such as the nearby flow.

History

Kaunerberg was originally part of the judicial district of Ried in Tirol and, after the dissolution of the judicial district of Ried in 1978 part of the judicial district of Landeck.
