Kawall amazon (Amazona kawalli )

The Kawall amazon (Amazona kawalli ) is a species of parrot from the subfamily of Neuweltpapageien. The ground color of the plumage of this 36 inches tall expectant Amazonenart is green, the feathers on the crown, at the back and on the sides of the neck are lined with black. Overall, the Kawall amazon is very similar to the Müller Amazon and was long regarded as the subspecies. Only since 1989, the Kawall amazon is recognized as a distinct species, because it is clearly distinguished by some features of the Müller Amazon. This includes for example a light skin fold at the base of the lower mandible. Kawall Amazons are also smaller than Mealy Amazons.

The distribution of Kawall Amazons is the middle Amazon basin. They live here mainly in forest areas near rivers and damp lowlands. About the lifestyle of Kawall Amazons is virtually nothing is known.
