Kaxås

Kaxås is a small place ( småort ) in the Swedish province of Jämtland County and the historic county of Jämtland.

The village lies at the foot of Hällberges, about 60 kilometers northwest of Östersund in the parish Offerdal in the community Krokom.

Kaxås and other villages in Offerdal have long been dominated by a traditional peasant culture. In Aflo at Kaxås a 8000 years old arrowhead ( Offerdalsspetsen ) was found in 1881. The name Kaxås is documented since 1472. In the 19th century Kaxås was an important place in this part of Offerdal, particularly through trade and crafts.
