The Island Kayak Iceland in the Gulf of Alaska is located about 100 km southeast of Cordova. It has an area of 73.7 km ² and is uninhabited.

Lieutenant Sarichef the Russian Navy named the island in 1826 Kayak because of the outline, reminiscent of the kayaks of the Eskimos. Captain James Cook landed here in 12th Mai 1778.

The Cape Saint Elias is located at the southwestern end of the island. The Mount Saint Elias was probably named after the cape.

The Cape St. Elias Light is an important navigation aid for navigation around the island.

The landing site of Vitus Bering is registered under the name Bering Expedition Landing Site since 2 June 1978 as the official historical site in the list of National Historic Landmarks.
