Kayerkan

Kajerkan (Russian Кайеркан ) is a formerly independent town, now the municipality of Norilsk in the north of Krasnoyarsk ( Russia) ( October 14, Stand 2010) with 22 338 inhabitants.

The town lies about 15 km west of the center of Norilsk, with which it is connected by a road.

History

In 1943, coal and other minerals were discovered in the area of Kajerkan, whereby the settlement Kajerkan arose. In 1957 Kajerkan received the status of an urban-type settlement and was appointed in 1982 to the city. In 2004 it was as well Talnach, incorporated to Norilsk.
