Kayser-Threde

Kayser- Threde GmbH is a system house, which specializes in the development and implementation of high -tech solutions for aerospace, science and industry. The range includes system solutions for manned and unmanned space missions, optical systems, telematics, crash test data acquisition and process control systems for railway power supply. The latter two represent a transfer of technology from the aerospace industry. The company is a subsidiary of OHB Group.

Space travel

Find all posts by Kayser- Threde include more than 100 scientific instruments, systems and sub- systems for space stations, satellites and interplanetary missions. Optical systems and sub- systems for eight space telescopes and cameras for astronomy and Earth observation have so far been put into operation.

Industrial Applications

  • Automotive: The Automotive Crash area Kayser- Threde was the world market leader with the on-board data acquisition system MINIDAU. The system was installed in around 70 % of all crash test facilities worldwide. In addition, other services have been offered (for example, dummy calibration). The division was acquired with effect from 22 September 2009 by Kistler Group.
  • Process Control Systems: In the field of process control engineering, the company has in the power supply of the Deutsche Bahn has an installed base of 7 process coupling systems for network control centers, more than 230 substation automation systems ( equivalent to 55 % market share) and 150 telecontrol node with together more than 7000 Embedded Systems.

Kayser- Threde 1994 was one of the first European space company, has been awarded an ISO 9001 certificate.

In 2006, the Company recorded an order intake of 40.8 million euros.

In June 2007, KT mbH & Co. KG, which holds 100 percent of Kayser- Threde GmbH, acquired by OHB Technology. The purchase price amounted to 5.95 million euros.

One of the developments is the introduction of a developed by Theodor W. Hänsch optical frequency comb in the general metrology.
