History

Olympic games

For the first Winter Games after the collapse of the Soviet Union, to the Kazakhstan belonged ( and thus the player for the Soviet national ice hockey team played ), 1994 in Lillehammer still have not had the team to qualify. In 1998 it was then, however, the extent and for the Kazakh team finished in Nagano least the 8th place after the team under Boris Alexandrov was able to reach the second round. The second participation at the Olympic Winter Games took place in 2006 then, after switching off in the first round but it was enough just to 9th position Kazakh striker Yevgeny Koreshkov was at this tournament with 5 goals and 2 assists also seventh best scorer. The team failed under the head coach Jerlan Sagymbajew in Oslo in the qualifiers for the Olympic Games 2010.

World Championships

At the World Championships, the team worked since independence of Kazakhstan in 1993 steadily upward until the team finally with the victory in the Division I ( unofficially B-WC ) in 2003 reached the actual Ice Hockey World Championships (A -WM). After three tournaments the team increased, however, at the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2006 in Riga ( Latvia) back into the Division I from after the relegation round was completed just as the third of four teams. At the Ice Hockey World Championship for Men 2007, however, the Kazakh team finished second in Qiqihar ( China) behind France and Poland only the third place and so missed the resurgence. In 2008, the Kazakhs had beaten the Austrians. 2009 finally managed to rise again after crucial games in Japan 3-1 and Slovenia were defeated 2-1. After the last place at the 2010 World Cup and the descent into the Division I succeeded in 2011, the immediate resurgence with a 3-2 aet in the final game against hosts Ukraine. Even after the descent 2012, the Kazakhs were able to celebrate its chances of promotion. After a 1-2 against hosts Hungary Asians needed for this in the last game a success against already established as a climber Italians, who also managed 3-0.

Asian Winter Games

The team won three times in 1996, 1999 and 2011, the ice hockey tournament in the Asian Winter Games, bringing each behind Japan two silver medals in 2003 and 2007. However, the performance gap with the hockey tournaments in the Asian Games is quite high. So are two-digit results of the Kazakh national team against teams unterklassige nothing extraordinary, eg a 38:0 against the United Arab Emirates and a 52:1 against Thailand at the 2007 tournament or a 35:0 against Taiwan at the tournament in 2011.
