Kazimierz Kay-Skrzypecki

Kazimierz Skrzypecki (* 1909 or 1910; † January 22, 1964 in Innsbruck ) was a British luger.

Career

Skrzypecki arrived in Poland to the world and fled to the occupation of his native country by Nazi Germany during the Second World War to Great Britain.

In 1964 he came to the premiere of the luge competitions at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck. With 54 years Skrzypecki was the oldest athlete who should compete at the Innsbruck Games. A week before the Olympics, he had an accident at a training ride on the bobsled and luge track in Igls. On January 22, 1964 at 10:30 clock in the morning he drove at a speed of about 50 km / h over the bonds of top curve addition, 10 to 15 m whirled through the air and struck then click on a frozen meadow. At the hospital, a skull base fracture and a fracture of the upper arm were observed; evening Skrzypecki succumbed to his injuries.
