Kazimierz Ostrowski

Kazimierz Ostrowski ( born February 14, 1917 in Berlin, † July 12, 1999 in Gdynia, Poland) was a Polish painter.

In 1920 Kazimierz Ostrowski had returned with his family to Poznan. In 1934 he went with his older brother Zygmunt to Gdynia. There, both painted signs and ship names, among others, on the Kosciuszko and the Batory. After the war ended in 1945, Kazimierz produced along with his father and his two brothers, street signs and signs on buildings in Gdynia. In the same year he began his studies at the Art Academy in Sopot. In 1949 he was awarded a scholarship by the French government to study in Paris. He began an apprenticeship in a studio at the famous French painter Fernand Leger. In 1950 he returned to Gdynia and married Halina Krywald, with whom he had two children. From 1964 to 1987 he was a lecturer in the field of easel painting at the Art Academy in Gdansk. In October 1981, he received the title of associate professor.

Kazimierz Ostrowski had participated in about 60 individual and collective exhibitions and has won numerous awards. He died on 12 July 1999 in his home and work in Gdynia in Abrahama Street 62 On the facade of the house was unveiled a bronze memorial plaque on 26 October 2006.
