Kazimierz Szczerba

Kazimierz Szczerba ( born March 4, 1954 in Ciężkowice ) is a retired Polish boxer.

Szczerba was Polish champion in 1976 and 1979 at Light Welterweight (63.5 kg) and 1984 and 1985 in the welterweight ( -67 kg ). In 1974 he won the bronze medal of the European Junior Championships ( U19) in Kiev.

At the Olympic Games in 1976 Szczerba won after a semi-final defeat against Ray Leonard, United States ( 5-0 ), the bronze medal in the light welterweight, a success that he was able to repeat in 1980 at the Games in Moscow in the welterweight division. In the semifinals, he had to give John Mugabi, Uganda (3:2), beaten this time.

Szczerba often struggled in his career against German boxer and suggested, among other things Karl -Heinz Krüger.
