Kazincbarcika

Kazincbarcika [ kɒzintsbɒrtsikɒ ] is a North Hungarian industrial town in Borsod -Abaúj -Zemplén with about 30,000 inhabitants.

Geographical Location

It lies at the foot of the Bükk in Sajótal. The city emerged from the three settlements Sajókazinc, Barcika and Berente, some of which were already mentioned in the 13th century.

History

In the previously predominantly agricultural area of coal mining in the second half of the 19th century led to an economic boom. In the city was in 1945 one of the four detention ÁVH the communist regime in Hungary.

The construction of the city started in 1951 and after two years the first apartments were handed over. In the 1960s, the city began to grow rapidly. For all of Northern Hungary were newcomers, especially teenagers. The chemical plant of Borsod, today BorsodChem was founded in 1963, which originated in the city's many more jobs. However, many mines closed in the 1980s, which led to the loss of many jobs.

Facilities

In the city there are three kindergartens, eleven elementary schools, a music school, five middle schools and one high school. The middle schools also visit children from the neighborhood of the city. Since 1953 Kazincbarcika has a hospital. The new building was handed over in 1969 and renovated in 2005. There is also a swimming pool, a skating rink and a sports court.

Culture

To the cultural life of the city include the Beni Egressy Cultural Centre and the library. In the city there are more than 40 statues, a reformed church, and the recently-built Greek Catholic Church, currently the new Catholic church is built. Every year different, partly international festivals in Kazincbarcika city, such as the international theater festival, the International Wind Music Festival and the " Kazincbarcikaer summer ".

There are very many ways to do in the area excursions: eg for Bükk of the stalactite cave of Aggtelek. The seaside tourism is also being developed at the swimming pool was a new hotel (Hotel Lukács ) built.

Exist with the other cities and towns in Europe close links, though not in the form of an official partnership. Because of both broad and intensive relations with European cities Kazincbarcika was awarded by the European Parliament with the European Diploma and 2002, with the European flag honor in 1999.
