Kdemultimedia#Dragon Player

The Dragon Player is a simple player for audio and video data from the KDE Software Compilation 4 (SC 4) that is based on the solid multimedia interface phonon and the hardware interface.

It aims to ease and simplicity. Therefore, he has a clearly structured interface and intelligent features. For each video played file, it stores settings such as the playback position. As KPart can integrate its functionality as Konqueror in KDE other programs.

History

Dragon Player is a continuation of the KDE 3 program Codeine, originally posted by Max Howell in 2005 - at that time still with xine backend.

Ian Monroe adopted the program and put it on Phonon and Solid, to integrate it as an official application for video playback in SC 4. Since December 2007 he released new versions that are now bearing the version number 2.x and the new name, Dragon Player, which he has chosen in honor of the KDE mascot Konqi. In the SC- 4 version of Kubuntu 8.04 from April 2008 it was an official part of a great Linux distribution for the first time.
