Keane (band)

Keane is an English rock band from Battle in East Sussex, which was founded in 1997. The central instrument of the band, the Yamaha CP -70B, a semi- acoustic grand piano, the instrumental with his significant concepts dominate all studio albums.

History

Tom Chaplin, Tim Rice -Oxley and Richard Hughes grew up in Battle and went to school together. In 1995, Rice-Oxley along with Dominic Scott, the band The Lotus Eaters, to which Richard Hughes soon joined. 1997, joined Tom Chaplin and the band was initially renamed Cherry Keane, ultimately Keane. 2000 and 2001, the group released the singles Call Me What You Like and Wolf at the Door, which, however, were only published in a small edition. Meanwhile, Dominic Scott left the band.

In 2002, the trio played two acoustic concerts in small bars, where Simon Williams, chief board of Fierce Panda, which have, among other things, the bands Coldplay, Idlewild and Supergrass under contract, was present. He offered them to the recording of a single. Thus appeared Everybody 's Changing Keane and soon afterwards occurred in the radio stations BBC and XFM. The Sunday Times and NME praised the newcomers and helped the band to become better known to the general public. 2004 major label debut album Hopes and Fears appeared in Iceland Records, from which the single Somewhere Only We Know was disengaged. Due to the great popularity of the song, the title is currently still used for TV productions. In 2005, Keane received two BRIT Awards for Best British Album and British breakthrough act award for this album. Also in Germany the band managed to climb the charts and on the stages of great music festivals.

In summer 2006, the second album Under The Iron Sea, which is significantly more experimental and more complex sound than its predecessor appeared. The singles Is It Any Wonder? and Crystal Ball Keane helped to an even greater level of awareness, even outside of the UK. After singer Tom Chaplin is allowed instruct for a few weeks in a rehab clinic in the fall of 2006, the North American tour had to be canceled. After about two months of interruption put the trio continued his tour. The band was almost broken at this crisis, especially since Tom Chaplin without informing during a concert tour in Japan, the band or management, left the band and boarded a plane to England. On 13 October 2008 the third album Perfect Symmetry was released. In November 2008, Keane played live again in three German cities. During the tour, Keane was also accompanied by Jesse Quin, an English musician.

On 10 May 2010 the EP Night Train, was added for Keane with rapper K'naan two pieces appeared. In addition, the EP includes a cover version of the song You've Got to Help Yourself by Yellow Magic Orchestra.

On 3 February 2011, it was announced that Jesse Quin joined the band.

International published on May 7, 2012, the fourth studio album was released Strange Land in Germany on May 4, 2012.
