Kebab Norwegian

Kebabnorsk ( Kebabnorwegisch ) is the name for a ostnorwegische youth language with a variety of loan words from immigrant languages.

Background

The term Kebabnorsk emerged in the mid -1990s; it refers to a youth language, loan words from Arabic, Persian, Punjabi, and various Balkan languages ​​mixed with Norwegian. The name comes from doing doner kebab, which is symbolic of the immigrant culture. Kebabnorsk is not to be confused with immigrant language par excellence. Kebabnorsk found in Eastern Norway, especially in the eastern districts of Oslo.

There is a dictionary of Kebabnorsk by Andreas Eilert Østby. However, the language is not fully consistent in their letters.
