The Kebira Crater (Arabic فوهة كبيرة ) is a 31 km wide crater structure in the Sahara Desert on the border between Libya and Egypt. It was discovered in 2006 in the analysis of satellite images.

Dr. Farouk El- Baz and Eman Ghoneim Dr. by the Center for Remote Sensing at Boston University had suggested that it might be here to be an impact crater. Scientific evidence for the impact theory there is not today. Alternatively, a hydrothermal ( volcanic ) origin is proposed.
