Keele peak

The Keele Peak, located in the northeastern part of the territory Yukon near the border with the Northwest Territories, with 2,972 m the highest peak in the Mackenzie Mountains. It is located southeast of the Hess River, a tributary of the Stewart River, and about 25 km northwest of the Canol Road. The Keele Peak is a stand-alone, of valleys surrounded by low trees massif with glaciers, which extend from the top of all pages and cover an area of approximately 100 km ².

The peak was named after the native Irish Joseph Keele (1863-1923), an explorer and geologist named. Keele made ​​a significant contribution to the cartography of the gold fields of the Yukon.
