Keele River

BW

The Keele River is a left tributary of the Mackenzie River in Canada's Northwest Territories.

The Keele River rises about 25 km south of the MacMillan Pass, the end point of the Canol Road, in the Selwyn Mountains on the border with the Yukon Territory. The river flows in an easterly direction through the backbone and Canyon Ranges. He takes from the right the Natla River and later on from left to Twitya River. The Keele River flows through a sparsely populated region of the Mackenzie Mountains. After about 410 km of the river reached the Mackenzie River, 50 km south-southeast of Tulita.

The Keele River is a destination for whitewater kayakers. The difficulty of the rapids varies between I and II with a few places in Class III. The Keele River is often driven in conjunction with the Natla River tributary. The latter is more demanding and has rapids of Class III - IV.
