Kefermarkt

Kefermarkt is a market town in Upper Austria in Freistadt district in Upper Austria with 2034 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Freistadt.

Geography

Kefermarkt is located on 516 m altitude in the Upper Austria. The expansion is 7.4 kilometers from north to south and from west to east 8.9 km. The total area is 27.8 km ². 7.6% of the area is forested and used 18.5 % of the area for agriculture.

History

In the 12th century, the area and the government of the vineyard to rule Freistadt belonged. Later it became detached from Freistadt and the first owner of the princely fief were the Piper of the Weinperge. From 1369 is the gender of the Zelkinger the owner of the fief. In the late 15th century the rule was by Christoph von Zelking enlarged, a church in Kefermarkt built and the village collected on September 17, 1479 to the market. Before that date Kefermarkt was designated as a village on Weinperg or boss remote village, with a certificate and the present name was adopted. In 1869, 1441 people lived in the municipality. Since 1981, the population is growing faster than before, reaching 2001 people in 2056 reached its highest level in a census. In 1991, the municipality had 1950 inhabitants at the 2001 census, already in 2056, representing an increase of 5.4%. On 1 January 2008 the municipality recorded 2094 inhabitants.

At the 2001 census, the proportion of residents who were 60 years and older, 16.2% was; 20.7% were under 15 years old. The proportion of the female population was 49.7 %.

Of the 1630 residents Kefer market, which in 2001 were over 15 years old, 4.5 % had completed a university, college or academy. A further 9 % had completed a Matura, 49% had attended a teaching degree or a vocational middle school and 37.4 % of all Kefermarnt had compulsory education as their highest degree.

Ethnicity and language

The German dialect that is commonly spoken in the room Kefermarkt and in Upper Austria, is the means Bairische. 96.9 % of Kefermarnt 2001 gave German as their everyday language. An additional 0.5 % spoke mainly Turkish, Czech 0.3%, the rest spoke other languages ​​.

The proportion of Kefermarnt with foreign citizenship in 2001 was 2 %, well below the average of Upper Austria. The council and mayoral elections are held every six years, coinciding with the state election held. Since the year 1945, the ÖVP ever won an absolute majority. The second strongest party was always the SPÖ. The FPÖ became the third strongest party in the elections, did not occur in 2003. 2003, the ÖVP was the strongest party with 52.2 % agree and ruled by an absolute majority. The Austrian shield has the former baronial feudal rule Weinberg ( official statement ). The importance of the rose - which is found also in the Lasberger coat of arms - is unclear.

The award of the municipality coat of arms and the municipality of colors is not known. Although the place was in 1479 raised to the market, the current coat of arms is an illustration from the 18th century.

Kefermarkt is located on the Summerauer train, there are direct connections to Linz, Salzburg and České Budějovice. Schloss Weinberg

The vineyard castle is a fortified palace -like, which originated in the 16th and 17th century ( late Renaissance ). At the end of the war in 1945 the valuable lock device was lost. Today, the castle houses a national training center.

Kefermarnt polyptych

The Kefermarnt winged altar of the parish church of Kefermarkt is one of the major works of Gothic architecture in Germany. It was created between 1490 to 1497 by an unnamed more well-known sculptor, known as the master of Kefermarnt altar. With a height of about 13 meters is the work of one of the largest preserved carved altars of the German late Gothic. Adalbert Stifter conducted in the years 1852-1855 in his capacity as School Board, the first restoration of the altar.
