Kehinde Wiley

Kehinde Wiley ( b. 1977 in Los Angeles, California ) is an American artist from New York.

He graduated from the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, joined the San Francisco Art Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts ( BFA ) and Yale University with a Master of Fine Arts from. He is especially known for his large-scale paintings depicting people of African-American origin in poses that are reminiscent of the classic works of the Old Masters. His work has been referred to as " bling-bling baroque" (Baroque). Images of him sold for more than U.S. $ 25,000, among other things, to celebrities such as Elton John and Denzel Washington. His works have been shown in solo exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, Deitch Projects and Conner Contemporary in Washington, DC shown. Mid-2006, he appeared in Artstar, the first improvised Reality TV television series set in the New York art scene.

2010 was shown in his newly built exhibition venue Me Collectors Room in August in Berlin Wiley's paintings Equestrian Portrait of Philip II by the art collector Thomas Olbricht, which was still given by Michael Jackson the artist in order.
