Kehmstedt

Kehmstedt is a municipality in the Thuringian district of Nordhausen. Fulfilling community is Bleicherode.

Geography

Kehmstedt is located on the eastern slope of the valley of Bölinger trench, a watercourse that his Quellbächlein in the partly wooded hills ( Fuchsberg, Bölinger Mittelberg, Michael reason) has the west of the local situation. From Kehmstedt it meanders in a southeasterly direction to the Wipper Strand district of Oberdorf, where it then flows into the mill race Wipper. The river has a total length of about 6 km.

The highest elevations in the vicinity are the Kirchberg ( 278.3 m above sea level. NN ) in the north, the first mountain ( 289.5 m above sea level. NN ) in the northeast and the Kronberg ( 266.7 m above sea level. NN ) in the east. To the south runs between Kehmstedt and Bleicherode a ridge out of 230 m above sea level. NN ). 2460 m west of the village center, on the border with Kleinbodungen district, lies the deserted village Alterode, another deserted village called Bölingen found in 2480 m northwest, however, already in the field of Bliedungen.

History

One kilometer south of the town were found in 1906 during road seven parallel aligned bronze swords and a spear-head from the late Bronze Age. The Fund is assigned a cultic resignation.

The first documentary mention of the place was 1093rd The historian Johann Georg Leuckfeld ( 1668-1726 ) wrote that the Counts of Northeim had ceded a part of the town to the monastery Bursfelde in the 11th century and that a Count Heinrich von Kercberch in 1295 three hooves had assigned in Kemstede to the monastery Walkenried. New mayor since July 20, 2010 Uwe Merx. This was chosen because his predecessor Helmut Herntrich did not run for election and thus was only one candidate. Nevertheless, there were about 50 votes against Uwe Merx.

Attractions

A distinct landmark of the village is built in the 17th century St. Martin's Church. The entrance to the nave was once located on the south side, near the tower, he walled up. The in relation to the longhouse mighty tower is the oldest part of the building. He wears a pointed, slated roof, in the small dormers are embedded in all four directions. The top is crowned by a golden ball tower with attached golden weathervane. The interior is lit by three tall arched windows on the two long sides of the ship and two slightly smaller arched windows in the choir.

The south wall of the nave and the choir received in the years 2008 to 2010 under the leadership of Halberstadt architect Gerd Srocke, a born Kehmstedter, a new white plaster Hundisburg Hochbrand plaster. As soon as the necessary funds are available, the north wall and the tower are to be plastered.

The St. Martin's church belongs to the parish of South Harz.

Traffic

Due to the location of the community Kehmstedt leads the L 1034, which establishes a connection between the B 243 (municipality Hohenstein ) and the B80 (municipality Wipperdorf ). In Wipperdorf and Bleicherode consist motorway (A 38 Kassel -Leipzig ) as well as stations on the line of Halle- Kassel.
