Keijo Liinamaa

Keijo Antero Liinamaa ( born April 6, 1929 in Mänttä, † June 28, 1980 in Helsinki) was a Finnish politician and Prime Minister.

Study and trade union official

Liinamaa holds a degree in law. Subsequently, he served as legal counsel for labor with the Finnish Trade Unions ( SAK ) operates. In 1958 he was union secretary in the West Finnish industry Mänttä. After the introduction of a new national program for the settlement of labor disputes in the early 1960s, he was appointed National Labor mediator for regional employment mediators and 1965. In the time of economic crisis from 1965 to 1967 to Liinamaa saw a few dozen work litigation exposed. However, he managed to avoid several general strikes in his capacity as National arbiters.

1967 a special order was given to him by the then Prime Minister Rafael Paasio. Liinamaa should achieve a comprehensive agreement between the employer and trade union organizations in order to avoid rising inflation due to rising wages and salaries. These negotiations led to the signing of the first complete income policy agreement and made him nationally popular.

Ministers and Prime Minister

After the parliamentary elections of 1970 after because of the number of parties represented in the Reichstag not initially form a government. For this reason, President Urho Kekkonen appointed on May 14, 1970 Teuvo Aura with the formation of a transitional government. This only reigning until June 15, 1970 Cabinet Liinamaa was Minister of Justice.

After the successor government of Ahti Karjalainen were resigned proclaimed by President Kekkonen early elections. On October 29, 1971 Aura was commissioned for the second time with the formation of a transitional government in which Liinamaa 1972 was minister of labor until 23 February.

After the parliamentary elections of 1975 initially neither party succeeded again the formation of a coalition government. President Kekkonen therefore commissioned Liinamaa on 13 June 1975 with the formation of a transitional government. After the intervention of the President Martti could Miettunen on November 30, 1975 form a broad coalition government and replace him as prime minister.

For his services to Finnish politics he was awarded the medal " Grand Cross of the White Rose of Finland " award.
