Keiko Suenobu

Keiko Suenobu (Japaneseすえのぶ けいこ, Suenobu Keiko; * March 1979 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist. Her works can be assigned to the shōjo genre, which is aimed primarily at female adolescents.

Life

Keiko Suenobus first manga publications as a professional illustrator were short stories. Two of her first short works were in the anthologies Saikyo no Jun'ai (最強 の 純愛) and Kando no Jun'ai (感動 の 純愛) included. For these anthologies in which stories around the theme of love have been published, also other authors worked.

A first longer Manga published Suenobu 2001 vitamin, which deals with the issue of bullying in Japanese schools. The notice published in the manga magazine Bessatsu Friend manga series contains over 200 pages and was also translated into German. The final breakthrough came with Life, she is responsible for Bessatsu Friend since 2002. Life covers topics such as self-injury and was released in Japan a success. The manga, the first nine volumes in Japan until the summer of 2005, four million copies sold, won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award, consists of over 2000 pages (June 2006) and will be published among others in English and German, but stopped the Heyne further production and translation. Heyne justified this by saying that there are not all to great demand in Germany.
