Keir Dullea
Keir Dullea [ kɪr duleɪ ] (* May 30, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States) is an American actor, particularly for his role of astronaut Dave Bowman in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: has become internationally known Space Odyssey.
Life and work
Growing up is Keir Dullea from the age of three in New York's Greenwich Village, where his parents ran a bookstore. After various theater activities and supporting roles in television series was the role of a juvenile offender in the movie ... cast the first stone (1961 ) made his screen debut. Flawed young people were then in the next few years played by him. Particularly noteworthy is his portrayal of the mentally gehandicapten David Clemens David and Lisa (1962 ), a role that was honored for Dullea among others, the Golden Globe Award for Best Young Actor.
After participating in other film and television productions then a role has been filled by him, whose international reputation survived the decades: In Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968 ) he played the astronaut David Bowman, who is the only survivor of a space mission to the onboard computer HAL interspersed 9000 and experienced the end of the film incomprehensible things.
Far less important were the films on which he worked on this milestone in film history in the port. Among other things, he was on the side of Senta Berger in the German production The dissolute life of the Marquis de Sade (1969 ) to see and also in 2010 - The Year We Make Contact (1984 ), sequel to the classic film from 1968.
Besides his work in front of the camera Keir Dullea has remained connected to the theater in the later years of his career. In 1983 he founded with his third wife Susie Fuller (1998 died ) the Theater Artists Workshop of Westport.
Since 1999, Keir Dullea is married in fourth marriage to actress Mia Dillon.
