Keisuke Tsuboi

Keisuke Tsuboi (Japanese坪井 庆 介, Keisuke Tsuboi; born September 16, 1979 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese football player.

Tsuboi began his career in 2002 as a defender at the Urawa Red Diamonds, for whom he still plays. Tsuboi did not begin until the age of 23 his pro career, as he only wanted to make his university degree. He is a fixture in the defense against the Reds and an emerging star in the Japanese national team. The most noteworthy fact that Tsuboi in his first pro season in 30 games was not a single yellow card.

He was elected Rookie of the Year in 2002 and received the Fair Play Award to the J. League. In 2003 he was elected to the Best 11 ( The team of the best players last season ). For the Urawa Reds, he completed so far 101 league games ( 1 goal) (as of the 2005 season ). 2004 and 2005, he came runner-up with the Reds. On New Year's Day 2006, he was able to get with the Reds the Japanese Emperor's Cup.

Since late 2002, he played for the Japanese national team, but he came only in 2003 against Paraguay for his first international cap. Tsuboi was in the squad of the Confederations Cup in 2003 and the Confederations Cup 2005. 2003 he graduated from the games, but in 2005 he sat on the bench. With the Football World Cup 2006 in Germany Tsuboi was also in the Japanese team, replacing the injured Makoto Tanaka on its position. He played two World Cup games ( against Australia and Brazil).

Since 2002, he played 40 international matches.
