Keith Allen (ice hockey)

Keith "Bingo" Allen ( born August 21, 1923 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, † February 4, 2014 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania) was a Canadian ice hockey player, coach and functionary, who from 1954 to 1955 for the Detroit Red Wings National Hockey League played and worked for Philadelphia Flyers as coach and general manager.

Career

After many years in the AHL Allen moved for 28 games to the Detroit Red Wings. After his 18 games in 1954 he won the Stanley Cup. After 10 games in the coming season had ended his stint as a player in the NHL and he worked for 10 years in the WHL as a player and coach, especially in Seattle.

1967 Allen returned as the first coach of the Philadelphia Flyers in the NHL back. Two years later he moved to the position of general manager and built up a team that consecutively won the Stanley Cup twice in 1974 and 1975. This team was known for his extremely rough play, so I went under the name Broad Street Bullies in the hockey history. For the Flyers, he worked until 1983.

Later he was instrumental in the founding of the Maine Mariners in the American Hockey League ( AHL ), which advanced to become one of the most successful clubs in this league.

Allen was taken in 1992 in the category " Builder " in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
