Keith Carney

Keith Edward Carney ( born February 3, 1970 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who, in its active period from 1988 to 2009 included for the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Anaheim Mighty Ducks of Anaheim Vancouver Canucks and Minnesota Wild played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Keith Carney began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Maine, for until 1991, he was active in 1988 and with whom he 1988/89 won the championship of the Hockey East in the season. Even as a high school student he had previously been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the fourth round as the 76th overall player of the Buffalo Sabres. For the Sabres the defender was in the 1991/92 season his debut in the National Hockey League. In his rookie year in 21 games he scored a goal and gave it five assists. In parallel he played, as well as the following year, for Buffalo farm team, the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

On October 26, 1993 Carney was released along with a sixth- round option for the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in exchange for Craig Muni and a fifth- round vote, also for the 1995 Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks. After he earned most of his first season in Chicago still at its farm team from the International Hockey League, the Indianapolis Ice spent, in the following period a regular place in the NHL squad. Shortly before the end of the Trade Deadline 1998 Links shooter was transferred along with Jim Cummins for Chad Kilger and Jayson More to the Phoenix Coyotes. The team from Arizona, he spent three years before he was hired in 2001 by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

The Ducks Carney was a total of five years under contract. During the lockout in the 2004/05 season, however, he played a single game. The season 2005/ 06 ended the former national team at the Vancouver Canucks, Canadians, however, left after only 18 games again. It was followed by two seasons with the Minnesota Wild before the Americans joined for the 2008/ 09 season, the SC Bern of the Swiss National League A. There he came in twelve inserts on four assists. At the end of the season, he finished his career at the age of 39 years.

Internationally

For the U.S., Carney participated in the Junior World Cup 1990, and the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano part.
