Keith Medal

The Keith Medal is awarded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh for a scientific paper in one of her journals, preferably in mathematics (published in the Proceedings, Series A ) and Earth Sciences (published in the Transactions ) and preferably a recent discovery. It is named after Alexander Keith of Dunnottar (died 1819) named the first treasurer of the society, and was endowed with funds from his estate in 1827. In 2006 she was awarded for the 80th time.

She was given time, every two years, now irregularly alternating in mathematics and earth sciences.
